What is a JAVA J2ME Phone?

Worthy of note that Nokia s40(now largely discontinued) made popular the term “Java phones” By way of description,

J2ME (Java 2 Micro Edition) is a feature that allowed a user to download and use small software applications written especially for mobile devices such as phones.
J2ME is a version of Java designed for simple phones. There are other versions designed for desktop and general-purpose applications.
J2ME applications can be games, can be specific functions such as a tip calculator, or they can be custom-written corporate applications. They can be Internet-enabled, so that, for example, a J2ME game might let you play someone else in real-time over the Internet. Finally, Java Apps can be developed by anyone – not just the phone manufacturer.
You could download new applications to your phone at any time. Most J2ME phones allowed you to download new applications directly to your phone using the phone’s Internet browser.

Types of popular Java phones that we still have around

Android smartphones run apps based on a version of Java. It is not directly compatible with other versions of Java, such as J2ME.
Obviously, J2ME has faded in popularity since the advent of smartphones, which can run much richer, more powerful apps than J2ME allows.
Notwithstanding, we still have some very popular Java phones for a budget price. This list has iTel at the forefront. iTel has replaced Nokia s40 phones like(Asha). Therefore if you still plan to get a cheap basic phone with a battery that can last for days and do basic multimedia operations, your destination should be iTel non-Android phones.
For the avoidance of doubts, I am not saying that the only Java phone we currently have is iTel. All i am trying to say is that they are the most popular currently. In their lineups, they have such popular series as itel 6900, iTel 6910, 5625 and so on.

  1. Obviously, the most secure and reliable method is to use your phone internet browser directly. You can browse the website where your Jar files can be found and download it with your internet browser. The installation process will start after a prompt and you will be able to use the app thereafter.
  2. Method 2: Get another phone to help you download and send the .jar/.jad app to your phone via Bluetooth. In fact, you can even do this with another Java phone. Read about how you can use a java phone to send a java installation file here.
  3. Thirdly, you can download the file with your PC and copy it to your phone’s memory card(if yours is having one). Next, locate the file and click on it to start the installation. Once this is completed, make sure you restart your phone before opening the app.
  4. Method 4: You will need a card reader, a phone that features a memory slot card and a memory card. Put the memory card into a card reader and place the Java application you want to install on the phone in the root directory. Do not put the file into any directory, unless you are certain that your phone can read it afterwards. Pull out the memory card and insert it into your phone. Next, Start the File manager that you previously installed (Fexplorer/Blueftp) and go to the location of the file on your memory card. Now, click on it and the installation process will start. After you’re done you can delete the .JAR file from your memory card to save space.
